A 7-year-old girl with a first symptomatic febrile UTI that resolves clinically with 7-day treatment.
Per the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations, all children younger than 2 years with a first UTI should be imaged. Many feel that all children younger than 5 years with febrile UTIs and those who do not respond to initial treatment should be imaged as well. Previously healthy girls older than 5 years with a first uncomplicated, successfully treated UTI do not necessarily require imaging.
